3 Step Design Process
3 Step Design Process
At 10xDesign, we pride ourselves in having a simple and effective design formula. Far too often, designs are overcomplicated with unnecessary insights clouding decision making. We simplify it all! Every design takes a simple yet effective 3-pronged approach that has been carefully designed for early stage tech startups.

Big Picture Strategy
We always try to keep ourselves aligned with your big picture goals. We do so by completely committing to understanding your market, business, and product. At the start of the sprint or even before we kick off, we work closely with you and your team to highlight some key problems or opportunities we'd like to explore in the 4 weeks coming ahead.
The key question here is what opportunities or problems do we need to explore?
Insight Driven Solutions
Once we have an understanding of the big picture. Your product, your market and your goals. We then, dig for insights. We think that finding trustworthy insights is a skill. More so at the pre-seed/seed stage because there isn't enough time or resources available to conduct deep dives. We get creative. We look at other industries, your market and your competitors. We draw parallels. We conduct exercises with you and your team to find trustworthy insights that relate to our overarching goal.
The goal here is to find as many key insights that we can trust.
UI/UX Design
This is where we combine the problem with the insights and design a solution that is simple and easy to implement for your dev team. We have lots of experience in working with early stage startups, we know how to design a solution that balances your resources with the needs of your users. We work closely with you to create a solution that fulfills your needs while also maintaining a clear insight into the design trends that are connected to your product.
The goal here is to find the simplest possible solution given the problem and the insights.
Core Principles
We have some key strategy and design principles we like to follow. These have been curated after working with many startups and are focused on creating a great product with limited resources.
80/20 rule
Usability Effect
Human Centered Design
80/20 Rule
The idea behind this rule is that 80% of the value is created by 20% of the effort. To illustrate this in a startup context, it's like saying that 80% of users value 20% of your features. This rule helps me stay lean and avoids feature bloating at the early stages of the build. A great mindset when working with early-stage startups without much experience in this industry. It helps them focus on their true value proposition.
Usability Effect
UI/UX designers are often so focused on providing an exceptional experience that aesthetics are not prioritised. A study shows that users are more likely to ignore user experience flaws on a website pleasing to the eye. This is a valuable insight for early-stage startups since they don't usually have expendable resources that they can spend on user testing and perfecting the user experience.
Human Centered Design
Whether you are designing for web 1, 2, or 3, AI, AR, spatial design - ignoring the user is a mistake. Like any other UI/UX designer, the first step of the process is always to build empathy toward the user.
Design Sprint
We have carefully designed a process that works best for early stage tech startups. We run a 4 week sprint/accelerator to design the next phase of your app.

What is a design sprint?

Design sprints are an intense time based process where user-centered teams tackle design problems. Our version of this is a 4 week sprint where we help you solve business and product problems through design.

What can you deliver in 4 weeks?

In the past, we have delivered end to end designs in this period. We can take a concept or an idea to a first version with flows that is ready to build. We can take your current product and build out the next phase with cleaner design and better flows. We can take your current design workflow and improve it through a design system and design tokens.

How do revisions work?

We are open to feedback and work closely with you and your team. We are happy to accommodate for revisions as long as they are reasonable.

What is the payment schedule?

50% upfront, 50% on final delivery.

What if we are not happy with the work?

We will do our best to make sure you get your money's worth for working with us. We have always enjoyed working with startups because they are exciting, we buy into your vision and help you create a better product!
